Boston grand rims are unique in their class. The hard-rock maple inner rim of Boston grands is made of the same material that is largely responsible for the longevity and performance of STEINWAY & SONS grand pianos. Rim construction requires a dense, rigid material to maintain the soundboard crown and keep vibrations within the soundboard where they can contribute to projection, sustain, and tone. The Boston rim has WIDE TAIL DESIGN, providing significantly more soundboard surface area for the length of the piano. For example, a 5′ 10″ Boston grand has the same soundboard area as a typical 6′ 2″ grand piano.
